Gyeonggi Province will conduct searches of the business sites of 839 delinquent taxpayers who owe more than 5 million won in local taxes and own construction equipment, and will proceed with compulsory collection measures. The total amount of their outstanding taxes is 53.216 billion won.
Due to the mobility and commercial nature of construction equipment, it is difficult to track their location. In particular, privately owned equipment can sometimes be traded without proper transfer of ownership even after being seized.
Accordingly, Gyeonggi Province will identify the locations of the equipment in advance through tracking investigations, and will seize and tow the machines found on site, followed by public auctions.

Before collecting on site, Gyeonggi Province will issue seizure notices and delivery orders based on construction equipment registration records. In cooperation with 31 cities and counties, the province plans to inspect the business sites of 839 owners of commercial and private construction equipment (including tower cranes, excavators, etc.), covering a total of 1,507 machines. The investigation will continue from March through October.
No Seungho, Director of Tax Justice at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "There will be no exceptions for habitual or high-amount delinquent taxpayers," adding, "Through strong, field-oriented collection activities, we aim to establish a fair tax order with the goal of achieving 'zero habitual and high-amount tax delinquencies.'"
