Imsil County has officially begun developing the "Rural Spatial Restructuring and Regeneration Basic Plan" to prevent unplanned rural development and create livable rural spaces.
On the 24th, Imsil County held the "Imsil County Basic Rural Spatial Policy Review Committee" at the Imsil County Office meeting room to establish the "Imsil County Rural Space Restructuring and Regeneration Basic Plan (Draft)." On the afternoon of February 24, Imsil County held the "Imsil County Basic Rural Spatial Policy Deliberation Committee" at the Imsil County Office conference room, attended by Vice Governor Hyunsook Park, review committee members, and related experts, to establish the "Imsil County Rural Spatial Restructuring and Regeneration Basic Plan (draft)."
This deliberation committee was convened in accordance with the "Act on Rural Spatial Restructuring and Regeneration Support," which was enacted last year, to design Imsil County’s rural space for the next ten years (2026-2035).
During the meeting, participants focused on topics such as the designation of regeneration activation areas throughout the entire county, as well as the designation and management strategies for eight types of rural specialized districts-including rural village protection districts, convergence industrial districts, and renewable energy districts.
The committee members unanimously agreed on the need to enhance the effectiveness of establishing specialized districts to address rural depopulation and the risk of regional extinction. They also pointed out the necessity of proactive management strategies for potential issues that may arise in the restructuring process, and of establishing clear guidelines for specific projects.
Imsil County plans to thoroughly incorporate the expert opinions gathered during this deliberation into the basic plan, and aims to finalize the plan after obtaining approval from North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province within the first half of this year.
Hyunsook Park, Vice Governor of Imsil, stated, "The establishment of this plan is a very important process for setting the future direction of our county's rural areas," and added, "We will do our utmost to create a sustainable Imsil that residents want to live in and that young people wish to return to, through systematic spatial structuring."
