Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province will fully implement the "2026 Slate Disposal and Roof Improvement Support Project" to prevent the risk of asbestos dispersion, which poses a threat to citizens' health, and to create a safer living environment.

This project targets slate structures in both residential and non-residential buildings (such as warehouses and livestock sheds, limited to facilities for the elderly and children as defined in Article 2, Paragraph 2 of the Building Act) within the city. It has been established to improve the quality of life for citizens by enhancing the residential environment. For this year, the city plans to support the demolition of roofs for 80 residential buildings, 74 non-residential buildings such as warehouses and livestock sheds, and roof improvements for 3 priority households, totaling support for 157 buildings.
The amount of support is up to 7 million won per residential building, and for non-residential buildings, it is provided within a limit of 200 square meters per building. In particular, priority households for roof improvement can receive up to 10 million won in support, and any amount exceeding the support limit must be covered by the applicant.
Citizens who wish to apply for the project can visit the administrative welfare center in the township, town, or neighborhood where the target site is located by March 20 to submit their application.
