Pyeongchang County, Gangwon Province, will be accepting applications for the "2026 Fisheries Workers Allowance Support Program" for 10 days, from March 3 to March 13, 2026, to stabilize the income of fisheries workers and maintain and enhance the public interest functions of the fishing industry.
This support program has been prepared to alleviate the economic burden on fisheries workers who are struggling due to decreasing fishery resources and rising operating costs, and to help create a sustainable fisheries environment.
Eligible applicants are fisheries workers who have maintained registration of their fishery business and have resided in Pyeongchang County from December 31, 2023, up to the date of application. After receiving the applications, the county will conduct a strict screening process, including reviewing eligibility requirements and any grounds for disqualification, before selecting the final recipients.
Fisheries households selected as final recipients will receive a "Pyeongchang Love Gift Certificate" worth 700,000 won per household. This is expected to not only help household finances for fisheries workers, but also revitalize the local small business sector by encouraging the use of regional gift certificates, delivering a dual benefit.
Park Mikyung, Head of the Livestock and Agricultural Machinery Division of the county, said, "We hope this fisheries workers allowance support will provide practical help to those struggling with high prices and climate change, and we will do our best to devise various support measures to promote the rights and interests of fisheries workers."
Fisheries households wishing to apply for the allowance should fill out an application form and submit it in person to the Livestock and Agricultural Machinery Division at the Pyeongchang County Agricultural Technology Center.
