Heungkuk Life Insurance announced on March 3 that it has launched a new rider providing coverage for up to five recurrences of breast cancer.
The key feature of this new product is the expanded coverage from diagnosis to surgery, allowing customers to focus on their treatment with peace of mind even after their initial therapy. The newly introduced “(Non-participating) Five-Time Breast Cancer Diagnosis Rider” pays 10 million won upon the first breast cancer diagnosis and then provides an additional 10 million won for each subsequent recurrence, up to five times in total. Coverage for new diagnoses applies after a one-year waiting period from the initial breast cancer diagnosis. If all five instances are claimed, the maximum payout is capped at 50 million won.
The “(Non-participating) Breast Cancer Care Rider,” also introduced, pays 10 million won each if the insured undergoes breast reconstruction surgery or either a mastectomy or breast-conserving surgery following a breast cancer diagnosis. The focus is on alleviating both the physical and financial burdens that may arise during the treatment process.
The newly released riders can be added to the following products: △(Non-participating) Heungkuk Life Dasarang Comprehensive Insurance, △(Non-participating) Heungkuk Life Dasarang 3·10·5 Simple Health Insurance, △(Non-participating) Heungkuk Life OtenTen 5·10·5 Health Insurance, and △(Non-participating) Heungkuk Life 3·10·5·5 Godang Plus Health Insurance.
A representative from Heungkuk Life Insurance stated, “Breast cancer is a condition where the possibility of recurrence or additional treatment cannot be ruled out even after the initial therapy,” adding, “We designed this product to move beyond the traditional one-time diagnosis benefit, taking into account repeated diagnoses and surgical stages, in order to reduce the financial burden customers may face during the treatment process.”
