Professor Wonyoung Lee, Department of Endocrinology at Kangbuk Samsung Hospital, was elected as the next president of the Korean Endocrine Society at the 2026 Council Meeting of the Korean Endocrine Society, which was held on February 24 at the Baekbeom Memorial Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
The term of office is two years, from January 1, 2027 to December 31, 2028.

The Korean Endocrine Society, established in 1982, is a society dedicated to research on various endocrine diseases, including diabetes and thyroid disorders. It plays a central role in endocrine and metabolic medicine through a wide range of activities, including hosting domestic and international academic conferences, publishing journals and educational content, developing clinical practice guidelines, and supporting academic activities.
Professor Wonyoung Lee of the Department of Endocrinology commented on his election, stating, "I will strive to develop the Korean Endocrine Society so that it can serve as a global leader in the field of endocrinology, and do my best to ensure the society supports future generations of scholars and is accessible to patients."
Meanwhile, Professor Wonyoung Lee currently serves as the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Director of the Diabetes Center at Kangbuk Samsung Hospital. He is also a full member of the National Academy of Medicine of Korea and has served as president of the Korean Society for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke. In addition, he has received several awards from the Korean Endocrine Society, including the Overseas Paper Award, the Merit Award, the Research Paper Award, and the Namgok Academic Award.
