Annual Scholarship Program Worth Approximately 3 Billion Won
Chongkundang Gochon Foundation recently held the '2026 Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony' at Chongkundang's headquarters in Chungjeongno, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, the foundation announced on March 3.
This year, including 110 newly selected recipients, Chongkundang Gochon Foundation will provide scholarships and free dormitory accommodation to a total of 403 domestic and international students until their graduation. The foundation also operates a scholarship program worth about 3 billion won annually, covering academic initiatives and a wide range of public interest projects.

Among the selected recipients, 168 students will receive a total of 1.1 billion won in tuition and living expense scholarships. For 98 tuition scholarship recipients (57 domestic and 41 international), the foundation will pay the full amount of university tuition fees. In addition, 70 living expense scholarship recipients will receive a monthly stipend of 500,000 won.
The foundation will also provide 235 university students from outside Seoul with free accommodation at the 'Chongkundang Gochon Haksa' dormitory, where they can live without any cost, including utility fees. Through Chongkundang Gochon Haksa, dormitory scholarship recipients can save more than 8 million won annually in housing costs, and the total annual support provided through this program amounts to approximately 1.9 billion won.
Chongkundang Gochon Haksa is the first housing support facility established by a private scholarship foundation for university students from outside Seoul facing housing difficulties due to the rising cost of rent and deposit. It was created at the suggestion of Chongkundang Chairman Lee Janghan, aiming to provide practical solutions to the challenges faced by young people. Currently, the dormitories are operating in major university districts across Seoul: Donggyo-dong, Mapo-gu (Building 1); Hwigyeong-dong, Dongdaemun-gu (Building 2); Junggok-dong, Gwangjin-gu (Building 3); and Yeongdeungpo-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu (Building 4).
Kim Moonkyung, a student at Sookmyung Women's University who was selected as a scholarship recipient this year, said, "I am grateful to the foundation for recognizing my potential and actively supporting my future. This scholarship has become a strong motivation for me to pursue my dreams, and I will strive to build expertise in my field so that one day I can give hope to others."
Jaejung Chung, Chairman of the Chongkundang Gochon Foundation, stated, "Our mission is to create an environment where students with infinite potential can fully pursue their dreams and dedicate themselves to their studies without financial hardship. We will spare no effort in providing multifaceted support to help our scholarship recipients grow into well-rounded talents with both professional knowledge and warm character."
Chongkundang Gochon Foundation is a scholarship foundation established in 1973 with personal funds from the late Chairman Lee Jonggeun, the founder of Chongkundang, with the aim of returning corporate profits to society. The foundation has expanded its support to include international students in countries such as Indonesia and Vietnam, and over the past 53 years since its establishment, it has provided 76.1 billion won in scholarships to 10,926 recipients, operating the largest scholarship program among Korean pharmaceutical companies.
