Apple has introduced the budget-friendly iPhone 17e and iPad Air, both offering enhanced performance thanks to the latest proprietary chip and cellular modem, while maintaining the same price as their predecessors.
On March 2 (local time), Apple unveiled the new iPhone 17e from the iPhone 17 lineup and the iPad Air equipped with the M4 chip at its event in Cupertino, California.
The iPhone 17e features Apple’s in-house chip, the latest-generation A19 built with 3nm technology. With a 6-core CPU and 4-core GPU, it delivers faster speeds and supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing. The neural engine has been upgraded to 16 cores, boosting the performance of Apple Intelligence and other AI models.
The cellular modem is equipped with the latest-generation CIX, delivering speeds twice as fast as its predecessor, which used the C1 modem.
Battery performance has also improved. The CIX modem uses 30% less power than the iPhone 16 Pro. The iPhone 17e supports wireless charging up to 15W and can charge up to 50% in just 30 minutes with fast wired charging.
This device comes with a 48MP Fusion camera supporting 2x optical telephoto zoom, enabling users to shoot 4K Dolby Vision video.
The iPhone 17e is available in three colors: black, white, and soft pink. Base storage options are 256GB and 512GB-the previous 128GB option has been eliminated, doubling the base capacity compared to the previous generation, all while maintaining the base price of 990,000 won.
Apple also unveiled the new iPad Air. Powered by the M4 chip, the new model is 30% faster than its predecessor and delivers improved AI performance thanks to enhanced unified memory and memory bandwidth.
The iPad Air comes in 11-inch and 13-inch models, with four color options: blue, purple, starlight, and space gray. Pricing starts at 949,000 won for the 11-inch model and 1,249,000 won for the 13-inch model, the same as the previous generation.
Pre-orders for these products will begin on March 4, with the official launch set for March 11.
