The Local Government Innovation Evaluation assesses 243 local governments nationwide based on three categories: institutional innovation capacity, innovation performance, and representative projects. Eunpyeong District ranked fourth among all autonomous districts in the country. Its achievements were recognized in a total of six indicators, including representative innovation projects, strengthened resident communication and participation, and improved services utilizing AI and digital technologies.
The district's flagship innovation project, the "AI-IoT-Based Mobility Safety Platform for Powered Mobility Devices," received particular attention. It was highly rated for being the first in the country to link the 119 emergency system to powered mobility devices, thereby securing the golden hour for traffic-vulnerable individuals in the event of an accident. Eunpyeong District was also recognized for its commitment to innovation by hosting the International Youth Forum (IFWY), collecting policy proposals from young people worldwide, and presenting the "Eunpyeong Declaration" at the United Nations Commission for Social Development.
In the area of resident communication, forums for apartment residents, parents, and youth were highlighted as key achievements. In particular, the "Youth Mind Health Project: With Me," an initiative to support reclusive youth discovered through the youth forum, and student meetings held during the process of improving school routes near Seonil Elementary School, were evaluated as highly effective innovation cases that residents could directly experience.
The AI-based waste separation service "AI Green Moa Moa" and the "Voice-Based Objection Service for Parking Fine Penalties" for digitally vulnerable groups were also recognized as examples of improved administrative service quality.
Kim Mikyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong District, stated, "Being selected as an excellent institution for nine consecutive years is the result of resident-friendly, field-oriented communication being connected to administration," adding, "We will continue to pursue innovations that residents can directly experience."
