The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on March 3 that it is accepting applications for the "Safe Home Repair Subsidy Program" for residents of aging low-rise homes.
The application period will run from March 20 to March 27. The city has secured a budget of 6.9 billion won to support home repairs for 780 households. This support includes repairs and upgrades such as window replacement, insulation, heating, waterproofing, convenience facilities, and fire safety facilities.
Eligible recipients are households considered vulnerable, living in low-rise homes over 10 years old with median incomes at or below 100%, semi-basement homes, and rooftop units where violations of building codes have been resolved. Homes over 20 years old located within residential performance improvement support zones are also eligible.
Starting this year, with the full implementation of the Integrated Care Support Act, the program will prioritize support for integrated care recipients who receive care services such as medical or nursing care in their residences, including them among vulnerable households. In addition, the program has expanded its scope to include homes that are expected to be occupied by vulnerable households in the future.
Choi Jinseok, Head of Housing at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, stated, "We will strive to reduce the financial burden of home repair costs needed to improve outdated and poor residential environments, so that a safe and pleasant environment can be created." He added, "We are pursuing policies to ensure that no one is left behind in housing management, and we will provide comprehensive support so that residents of low-rise neighborhoods can enjoy a warm daily life."
