Starting January 28, Daejeon City will launch the "2026 Hydrogen Electric Vehicle Supply Project," providing a purchase subsidy of 32.5 million won per vehicle.

This year, based on the main budget, 150 vehicles will be distributed: 130 for general citizens and corporations, and 20 allocated with priority to vulnerable groups and families with multiple children.

Eligible applicants include citizens aged 18 or older who have continuously resided in Daejeon City for at least 30 days prior to the date of purchase application submission, as well as corporations, companies, and organizations whose business locations are in Daejeon as of the application date.

To receive the subsidy, buyers must visit a Hyundai Motor Company dealership designated by the Ministry of Environment as a hydrogen vehicle manufacturer and seller, sign a purchase contract, and then submit the purchase subsidy application and supporting documents according to their eligibility through the Zero-Emission Vehicle Integrated Portal.

Daejeon City will review the supporting documents in the order the applications are received through the Zero-Emission Vehicle Integrated Portal, grant subsidy eligibility, and, once the vehicle delivery date is confirmed, determine the final subsidy recipients after verifying budget availability.

Finally, once the buyer completes the delivery and registration of the hydrogen vehicle in Daejeon, the city will review the subsidy application documents and pay the subsidy to the vehicle manufacturer.

Meanwhile, there are currently nine hydrogen charging stations operating in Daejeon, including the newly opening Geumgo Hydrogen Charging Station in Yuseong District from February 1 (Hakha, Sindae, Nangwol, Geumgo, Hyeonchungwon, Jawoondae, Jungchon, Samjeong, and Shintanjin Rest Area).

Jae-hwa Park, Director of Economic Affairs for Daejeon City, stated, "Until last year, Daejeon City provided purchase subsidies for 2,011 hydrogen electric vehicles, which is the second highest among metropolitan cities in Korea relative to population," adding, "Daejeon City will continue to promote the supply of hydrogen electric vehicles to improve air quality and vitalize the hydrogen economy."

For more details about the hydrogen vehicle supply project, please refer to the announcements posted on the Daejeon City website and the Zero-Emission Vehicle Integrated Portal. For other inquiries, contact the Energy Policy Division of Daejeon City.
