A Wealth of Experiences Including Omakase and Fishing Competitions
Buan County in North Jeolla Province will host the 13th Buan Snow Mullet Festival over two days, from December 5 to 6, at the public parking lot of the Buan Permanent Market.
According to the county on December 3, this year's festival will be held under the theme "Snow Mullet! Captivating Winter." For the first time, it will be organized independently, separate from the previously joint "Waggle Waggle Market Song Festival." The festival will strengthen unique programs centered on mullet, offering tourists a richer and more diverse array of experiences.
Main programs will include a mullet omakase, a mullet fishing competition, a mullet catching experience, the Mullet Golden Bell quiz, and a mullet auction event. In addition, there will be food booths serving mullet sashimi, nostalgic snacks, twisted donuts, roasted sweet potatoes, and more.
In particular, the opening ceremony on December 5 will feature spectacular performances by invited singers Jin Sung, Ha Tae-woong, and Vita. On December 6, local cultural clubs and the Buan County Entertainers Association will present a variety of performances, further enhancing the festival atmosphere.
The county expects that this festival will allow visitors to fully enjoy an interactive winter event where they can "catch, prepare, eat, and have fun."
Kim Hyeongho, president of the Buan Permanent Market Merchants Association, said, "I hope the 13th Buan Snow Mullet Festival will revitalize the market and become an opportunity for both residents and tourists to create warm winter memories. We invite everyone to visit and participate."
Since its inaugural event in 2007, the Buan Snow Mullet Festival has fostered harmony between local residents and traditional market merchants, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.
