High Marks for Stable Longitudinal Gradient and More
Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on December 3, 2025, that it had received the Excellence Award in the "2025 National Forest Road Best Practices Evaluation."
This annual evaluation, organized by the Korea Forest Service, is conducted to advance construction technologies for forest road facilities and to develop related policies.
The evaluation committee, comprised of forestry experts and other professionals, examines factors such as the appropriateness of route selection, disaster safety, usability, maintenance and management, and other outstanding features.
Sancheong County won the Excellence Award for the newly constructed Sinan-myeon Galjeon-ri main forest road (approximately 1.87 km), which scored highly for minimizing cut-and-fill slopes, the state of slope revegetation, and stable longitudinal gradients.
In particular, the construction of disaster-resistant forest roads by minimizing cut-and-fill slopes, the use of eco-friendly construction methods, and the creation of various ecological corridors for wildlife-enabling the coexistence of humans and wild animals-were recognized as exemplary practices.
An official from Sancheong County stated, "This award has provided an opportunity to showcase the excellence of our forest road design and construction capabilities nationwide," adding, "We will continue to do our best to promote forest management and to construct disaster-resistant forest roads."
