Snow and Rain to Continue Until the Morning of December 4
The first snow of this winter fell in Gwangju, covering the city center in a white blanket for the first time. On December 3, the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration announced that snow was observed at the Gwangju manned observatory at around 11:30 p.m. the previous day, officially recording the season's first snowfall.

This winter's first snow arrived five days later than last year and three days later than the average year. In Jeollanam-do, 0.3 centimeters of snow accumulation was confirmed in Uisin-myeon, Jindo. Between December 3 and 4, about 1 centimeter of snow is expected in the central inland areas of Gwangju and Jeollanam-do, 1 to 5 centimeters along the West Sea coast of Jeollanam-do, and 3 to 8 centimeters along the northern West Sea coast of Jeollanam-do.
In Yeonggwang, a heavy snow advisory was issued early in the morning, and strong snowfall is expected to be concentrated mainly along the northern West Sea coast. This is explained as the result of northwesterly winds over the West Sea meeting land winds from the continent, which has strengthened the precipitation cloud bands.
Snow and rain are expected to continue until the morning of December 4, after which temperatures are forecast to return to seasonal averages and the precipitation will gradually subside. On this day, most areas of Gwangju and Jeollanam-do experienced subzero temperatures and a severe cold wave persisted.
As of 5 a.m., the lowest temperatures recorded were minus 8.6 degrees Celsius at Seongsamjae in Gurye, minus 6.5 degrees Celsius at Mudeungsan in Gwangju, and minus 3.5 degrees Celsius at Baegunsan in Gwangyang. Daytime highs remained around 5 degrees Celsius, but strong winds made it feel even colder.
On the morning of December 4, the lowest temperatures are expected to range from minus 6 degrees to plus 1 degree Celsius, while daytime highs are forecast to be between 5 and 9 degrees Celsius. An official from the Meteorological Administration stated, "There will be significant regional differences in snow and rain due to variations in the incoming precipitation cloud bands."
