Visiting Eight Middle and High Schools in Daejeon... Reaching About 1,500 Students
Every Being Deserves Respect... Helping Youth Discover Their Own Value
Daejeon City and the Daejeon Metropolitan Suicide Prevention Center will hold a touring performance of the musical "I Am a Butterfly" to highlight the value of life and prevent youth suicide.
The performances will take place from December 1 to December 4 at eight middle and high schools in Daejeon, operating as a touring program that visits each school directly.
Approximately 1,500 students will participate, including all grades at Taepyeong Middle School (200 students), all grades at Yongjeon Middle School (309 students), first-year students at Daedeok Middle School (170 students), all grades at Daejeon Science High School (283 students), third-year students at Noeun High School (211 students), third-year students at Doan Middle School (291 students), all grades at Byeondong Middle School (280 students), and all grades at Doma Middle School (170 students).
The musical "I Am a Butterfly" focuses on providing an opportunity for young people to discover their own value, understand their own and others' emotions, and experience the formation of positive relationships, under the message that every being deserves respect.
Daejeon City expects that this initiative will further spread a culture of respect for life within schools and contribute to creating a healthy school environment where students care for their own well-being through arts and culture, and offer each other support and encouragement.
Han Jongtak, Director of Sports and Health at Daejeon City, stated, "We hope this life-respect musical will help young people recognize their own potential and value," adding, "Youth suicide prevention is a critical issue that the entire community must address together. We will continue to expand cultural, artistic, and life-respect services going forward."
