"Recognized for Building Coffee Logistics and Core Strategic Industry Ecosystems"
Busanjinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (Administrator Park Seongho) has received the Innovation Institution of the Year Award in recognition of its achievements in global logistics innovation.
The authority announced on the 28th that it was honored with the '2025 Innovation Institution of the Year Award' at the 2025 Korean Maritime Business Association and Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) Autumn Academic Seminar held at Dongmyung University.
The Korean Maritime Business Association annually selects and awards institutions and leaders who have achieved innovative results in the fields of trade, logistics, maritime, and business. This year, Busanjinhae Free Economic Zone Authority was the sole recipient of the Innovation Institution Award. This officially recognizes the authority's contribution to regional growth and enhancing national competitiveness in the port, logistics, and global business sectors.
The authority was highly evaluated for its policies to secure future competitiveness in maritime, logistics, and urban industries, including strengthening the global integrated logistics base, fostering strategic industries centered on the New Port, and supporting the establishment of a coffee logistics and manufacturing cluster.
This seminar was co-hosted by the Korean Maritime Business Association and the Korea Maritime Institute, with the theme 'Current Status and Challenges of Busan as a Global Hub City.' Experts from academia and industry attended to discuss major issues such as responses to northern shipping routes, marine tourism, coffee logistics, and future urban strategies.
In the first session, presentations were given on changes in the trade and logistics industries due to the spread of global risks and strategies for responding to northern and Arctic routes. The second session featured presentations by KMI and private companies on the current status and challenges of coffee logistics.
During this session, a representative from the authority participated as a panelist to discuss directions for improving coffee logistics and ways to link it with local industries. In the third session, the future policy direction for Busan as a global hub city was presented, concluding the seminar.
Administrator Park Seongho stated, "We have worked to create an ecosystem for integrated logistics, new port industries, and core strategic industries to secure future growth engines for the Busan and Gyeongnam economies. This award recognizes the authority's innovation efforts by both academia and industry, and we will continue to promote future strategic industry development policies to strengthen global competitiveness."
