400 Million Won Invested
"Creating Safer Streets at Night"
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province will invest a total of 400 million won to install and upgrade high-efficiency LED streetlights and security lights in 260 vulnerable areas identified by local towns and districts.
According to the city on November 26, this project was launched to create safer streets at night. The LED streetlights being introduced offer higher energy efficiency and longer lifespans compared to existing lighting, providing significant economic benefits by drastically reducing electricity bills and maintenance costs.
In particular, the application of an automatic switch system minimizes errors in lighting on and off times and lowers the failure rate, making nighttime lighting operations more stable and efficient.
The city expects that once the LED replacement and installation project is completed, the safety of citizens walking at night will be greatly improved. Brightening dark alleys and blind spots will help eliminate high-risk areas and make a significant contribution to preventing various nighttime safety accidents.
Currently, Jeongeup City manages approximately 27,000 streetlights and security lights. The city has been continuously carrying out new installations and maintenance of aging facilities every year to create a pedestrian environment where citizens can walk with peace of mind.
Mayor Lee Haksoo stated, "We will continue to expand the LED lighting project, which is highly effective in saving energy, to make Jeongeup a brighter and more pleasant city." He added, "We will also do our utmost to establish a systematic streetlight management system and provide citizens with a safer urban environment."
