The "Symbios Reading Golden Bell" is the center's flagship extracurricular program designed to foster students' interest in classic literature and promote intellectual curiosity. Participating students read designated books and compete in a quiz contest, exploring the wisdom and messages conveyed by great works.
This year's designated book was "Aesthetics Odyssey" by Jin Jungkwon. After intense preliminary and final rounds, a total of ten students received awards. The grand prize went to Seo Heewon (Media School), while the excellence awards were given to Park Sohyun (College of Natural Sciences) and Jo Jua (School of Medicine). Seven other students received merit and encouragement awards.
Since its reorganization in 2014 from its predecessor "Our Language Counseling Center" established in 2010, the Hallym University Communication Education Center has been responsible for developing and operating communication curricula, providing online and offline writing feedback and counseling, and running various extracurricular programs to strengthen students' communication skills.
In particular, the center actively operates learner-centered programs such as "Communication Clinic," "Symbios Book Club," "Symbios Essay Contest," and "Symbios Reading Golden Bell," aiming to nurture talents equipped with logical thinking, creative self-expression, and rational communication skills.
Shim Bokyung, Director of the Communication Education Center, stated in her congratulatory remarks, "This Reading Golden Bell was a festival where students read 'Aesthetics Odyssey' together, communicated, and shared wisdom," adding, "The Communication Education Center will continue to help students discover the joy of reading great books and support their growth into individuals with critical thinking and rational communication skills."
The Communication Education Center's extracurricular programs at Hallym University are carried out as part of the university's core competency enhancement project, supported by the University Innovation Support Group.
