Cheorwon County in Gangwon Province announced on the 17th that the 2025 Cheorwon Hantan River Columnar Jointing Trail National Children’s Baduk Tournament successfully concluded after being held for two days from the 15th to the 16th at the Cheorwon Comprehensive Cultural Welfare Center Gymnasium.

This tournament, organized as part of Cheorwon County’s sports marketing initiative, was hosted by the Korea Baduk Association and the Cheorwon County Baduk Association, with sponsorship from Cheorwon County, the Cheorwon County Council, and the Cheorwon County Sports Council. Over 300 young Baduk prodigies from across the country, who are expected to lead the future of Baduk in Korea, participated in the event.
The tournament featured Lee Changho, one of Korea’s most renowned Baduk masters, as well as the “Cheorwon Hantan River Columnar Jointing Trail Women’s Baduk Team.” They participated in special exhibition matches, contributing to the growing popularity of Baduk in Cheorwon.
As the tournament was for children, a variety of events were also prepared for accompanying parents, including an Alkkagi event, an AI Baduk experience, and a fan signing session with Lee Changho, providing participants and their families with memorable experiences in Cheorwon.
Lee Hyeonjong, Mayor of Cheorwon County, stated, “Children’s Baduk teams from all over the country gathered in Cheorwon, a city symbolizing peace, and engaged in friendly competition. We will continue to promote the local economy through initiatives to revitalize sports, including Baduk.”
