President Lee Jaemyung Announces Ministerial and Vice-Ministerial Appointments on November 14

On November 14, President Lee Jaemyung reinstated Park Sugun, Honorary Professor at Hanyang University School of Law and a former official from the Moon Jae-in administration, as Chairman of the Central Labor Relations Commission, a ministerial-level position. Lee Yongchul, the inaugural Deputy Administrator of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and former Legal Affairs Secretary under the Roh Moo-hyun administration, was appointed as Administrator of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
Kim Namjoon, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, announced these ministerial and vice-ministerial appointments during a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the same day. Kim stated, "Nominee Park is a labor law expert and professor with a background as an attorney, who has been active both in academia and government. As an expert with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, he is expected to contribute to the advancement of mature labor-management relations."
Lee Byungkwon, former head of the Seoul Regional Office of SMEs and Startups, was selected as the Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. This is the first appointment since the creation of a vice minister dedicated to small business owners. Spokesperson Kim explained that Lee was considered the right person for the role, given his experience in formulating policies to protect neighborhood businesses.
For the position of Administrator of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, Lee Yongchul, the inaugural Deputy Administrator and former Legal Affairs Secretary to President Roh Moo-hyun, was appointed. Kim described him as "not only someone who helped establish the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, but also the optimal strategist to realize the goal of making South Korea one of the world's top four defense industry powers, thanks to his outstanding insight."
Han Samsuk, a standing member of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, was selected as Vice Chairperson of the commission. Han is recognized for having played a leading role in drafting the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, having served in key positions such as Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau at the commission.
Lee Jeongryeol, Secretary General of the Personal Information Protection Commission, was appointed as its Vice Chairperson, while Lee Junghan, Director General for Employment Policy at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, was appointed as a standing member of the Economic, Social and Labor Council.
