As a member of the Education Committee, Chun-Sung Jeon first presented the details of the Provincial Office of Education's business promotion expenses and photos of the problematic products. He stated that it was an issue for the Provincial Office of Education, as an administrative agency, to purchase in bulk (by private contract) products worth about 25 million won using business promotion expenses, even though these processed foods violated food labeling standards by lacking ingredient and country-of-origin information.
Jeon-Sung Jeon further explained that the problematic products were purchased from a specific company called "Bomnal Planning." The representative of this company not only appeared as a key witness in Superintendent Shin Kyungho's trial but is also presumed to have been in a de facto marriage with Mr. A, the former spokesperson of the Provincial Office of Education.
He also pointed out that the company was not originally registered in the food industry, but added the food business to its registration on January 15 last year, just before the holiday, and the products were purchased only 20 days later, on February 5.
In particular, Assemblyman Jeon emphasized that this purchase, which took place before the witness's court appearance, could be seen as providing economic benefit to the witness and as preferential treatment that could influence the trial. He added that there are claims this constitutes breach of duty, and stressed that this incident must be recognized and judged with utmost seriousness.
Meanwhile, a press conference raising related suspicions was held at the National Assembly in April, and the case has since been reported to the police and is currently under investigation.
Assemblyman Chun-Sung Jeon urged the Provincial Office of Education to ensure strict management so that such incidents do not occur again, emphasizing that public officials must be careful to prevent personal interests from interfering with their work.
