Stepping Up as a Global Center for Bonsai Culture

Sinan County in South Jeolla Province has taken another step forward as a global center for bonsai culture.
The county announced that the "2025 ABFF Convention & Korea Bonsai Exhibition," held at the 1004 Islands Bonsai Garden for five days starting November 7, concluded successfully. The event was hosted by Sinan County and organized by the Korea Bonsai Association.
Over 300 exquisite bonsai pieces, selected through regional preliminaries nationwide, were displayed in one place, receiving enthusiastic responses from visitors. In particular, the 1004 Islands Bonsai Garden in Sinan County, which showcased bonsai worth a total of 2 billion won, attracted a steady stream of bonsai enthusiasts from both Korea and abroad throughout the event.
During the event, bonsai delegations from 10 Asia-Pacific countries, including China and Japan, attended, and Sinan County signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with the World Bonsai Friendship Federation (WBFF) and Baoding Garden in China. Through these agreements, Sinan County has been recognized as laying the foundation to become a hub for international bonsai exchange and a center of global bonsai culture.
A county official stated, "We are delighted that the international bonsai exhibition concluded successfully," adding, "Building on this achievement, we will further develop the 1004 Islands Bonsai Garden into a world-class garden that attracts global attention."
Meanwhile, the 1004 Islands Bonsai Garden is scheduled to host the "2025 Island Winter Flower Festival" starting December 19. During the festival, 40 million red camellia blossoms will bloom on 20,000 Camellia trees, creating a breathtaking winter garden landscape.
