Defense Industry Experts from 24 Countries Gather in One Place
An international conference on MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) will be held in Daejeon.
The Daejeon Metropolitan Government will host the "Korea MRO International Conference (KMROcon) 2025" at Hotel ICC from November 13 to 14.
Now in its second year, this event aims to foster the ecosystem of the K-Defense MRO industry and provide a platform for networking and cooperation among industry stakeholders. The conference and its programs are designed to establish a practical MRO cooperation platform among the public, private, and military sectors and to generate synergy. More than 1,300 experts and stakeholders from the land, sea, and air MRO sectors-including representatives from government, military, private industry, academia, and research institutes across 24 countries-will participate.
The opening ceremony on November 13 began with keynote speeches by the head of the United States Joint United States Military Advisory Group-Korea (JUSMAG-K) and Shin Ikhyun, CEO of LIG Nex1. Over the two-day international conference, domestic and international defense industry experts in the land, maritime, and aviation sectors were invited to share the latest MRO policies, systems, and issues. In-depth presentations and discussions were held on future development strategies and ways to enhance public-private-military cooperation.
In addition, an industrial exhibition of advanced MRO-based products featuring more than 20 companies and organizations, B2B networking sessions, roundtable meetings among government, military, private sector, academia, and research institutes, as well as site visits to Daejeon-based research centers and companies for foreign military and corporate officials, are scheduled to take place.
In his welcoming address, Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, "MRO is not just about simple repairs; it is a core field for national security that maximizes weapon operational rates and represents a future growth industry. I am pleased that this forum for discussing the future development of the industry is being held in Daejeon, and we will actively support K-Defense so that it can become one of the world's top four defense powerhouses."
Meanwhile, MRO stands for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul, referring to the industry that maintains equipment at optimal performance. With advances in science and technology, public-private-military cooperation has become essential in this sector. MRO is drawing attention as a source of continuous revenue through after-sales management following defense exports.
