Hands-On Programs Featuring Cooking, Workshops, Performances, and Kimchi-Making for Sharing
The Gyeonggi Future Education Yangpyeong Campus, operated by the Gyeonggi Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, will host the 'K-Food Yangpyeong Festa' on November 15 under the theme 'Lifelong Learning Through Food: Learning and Sharing.' The event will offer participants the opportunity to experience Korean food culture and traditions.
The Yangpyeong Festa was held four times between September and October this year, drawing approximately 4,600 participants and receiving an enthusiastic response. The November event will be the fifth Yangpyeong Festa of the year and will focus on K-Food as its main theme.
The program will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and includes a variety of activities: the 'Cooking Lab,' where participants can make and taste dishes such as Dasik, glutinous rice cake, sweet potato balls, vegetable mini gimbap, and custom ramen; the 'Little Chef Workshop,' where attendees can create aprons, natural scrubbers, and square Hanji plates; the 'Future Imagination Workshop,' which combines future technologies and education through activities like making AI mugs, a drone delivery challenge, and designing personalized Korean food characters; the 'Book, Forest Picnic,' which offers a blend of relaxation and learning through book picnics, tea ceremonies, and native speaker programs; the 'Performance Stage,' featuring magic shows, busking, quizzes, and international costume experiences; and the 'DIY Corner,' where participants can craft personalized items such as fruit leather keyrings and watermelon pencil cases.
There will also be a kimchi-making and sharing event led by Lee Miran, Director of the Korea Fermented Food Institute Fermentation Schole. Foreign influencers and a volunteer group of supermodels will participate in making kimchi, which will then be donated to vulnerable groups through the Food Bank.
The event is open to everyone free of charge, with on-site registration available on the day. Detailed schedules and program information can be found on the official website.
Oh Hoo-seok, President of the Gyeonggi Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, stated, "We have prepared this hands-on festival to embody the meaning of lifelong learning through K-Food, making it enjoyable for both families and foreigners. We hope participants will experience the flavors and culture of Korea in the natural setting of the Yangpyeong Campus and find joy in learning."
