On November 11, Yeongcheon City was honored with the "Excellence Award" in the 2025 Gyeongbuk City and County Agricultural Policy Evaluation at the 30th Gyeongbuk Province Farmers' Day commemorative event held at the Gyeongbuk Women's Plaza Donghaeng Hall.
The Gyeongbuk Province Agricultural Policy Evaluation has been conducted annually since 2014, targeting 22 cities and counties in the province. The evaluation aims to promote the activation of agricultural policy work, encourage healthy competition, and strengthen agricultural competitiveness through the development of policies for farmers.

This year's evaluation covered a total of seven areas and 28 indicators, including agricultural transformation and agri-food distribution.
Yeongcheon City received high marks for its systematic approach to agricultural policy, excelling in various areas such as revitalizing the agri-food sector through direct sales of agricultural products, operating an integrated fruit brand, and fostering the agri-food industry, as well as ensuring appropriate rice production and establishing advanced smart farms.
Choi Kimoon, Mayor of Yeongcheon, stated, "This award is a valuable achievement made possible by the hard work of farmers, organizations, and related institutions who have worked together in the field for the development of Yeongcheon agriculture. We will continue to strengthen the foundation for sustainable agriculture, enhance agricultural competitiveness, and create a prosperous Yeongcheon where both farmers and citizens can be happy together."
Meanwhile, on the same day, Cho Kyuhun, CEO of the Yeongcheon Eco-Friendly Agricultural Cooperative Corporation located in Hwanam-myeon, was awarded the "Farmer Grand Prize" in the agricultural product export category for his contributions to expanding overseas exports of local agricultural products.
With this year's award, Yeongcheon City has now achieved a total of 11 awards, including one Grand Prize, four Excellence Awards, and six Merit Awards.
