Gapyeong County Offers Up to 120,000 Won Refund Over 9 Days
Revitalizing Traditional Markets and Neighborhood Shopping Districts
Gapyeong County in Gyeonggi Province has been selected as a participating city for the ‘Big Sale to Revive Gyeonggi in the Second Half of 2025,’ an event hosted by Gyeonggi Province. Gapyeong’s ‘Big Sale’ event will run for nine days from November 22 to November 30, offering up to 20% payback benefits at local traditional markets and neighborhood shopping districts.
In Gapyeong County, four traditional markets-Gapyeong Jatgoeul Market, Seorak Nunmaegol Market, Jojong Market, and Cheongpyeong Yeoul Market-will participate, along with three neighborhood commercial zones: 1939 Music Station Merchants Association, Cheongpyeong Riverside Merchants Association, and Cheongpyeong Lake Merchants Association. The Gapyeong County Small Business Association will also join as a connected commercial network.
During the event, consumers who make payments using the local currency (GP Pay card or app) at participating locations can receive up to 30,000 won in payback benefits, depending on their spending amount. The maximum benefit is 30,000 won per person per day, with a total of up to 120,000 won available during the event period. For example, those who spend between 30,000 and 50,000 won will receive a 5,000 won refund; those who spend between 100,000 and 150,000 won will receive 20,000 won; and those who spend over 150,000 won will receive 30,000 won.
Gapyeong County expects this sale to help revive the stagnant local consumer sentiment and invigorate small businesses and market merchants in the region. In particular, the event is significant as it provides an opportunity for the local economy to rebound following recent recovery efforts from heavy rainfall damage.
The Big Sale event may end early if the allocated budget is exhausted. The issued local currency can be used until December 31, 2025, after which it will automatically expire. For inquiries regarding the event, please contact the call center. Information about the event and participating locations can be found on the ‘Gyeonggi Local Currency’ app or on the website of the Gyeonggi Market Commercial District Promotion Agency.
A county official stated, “This event is a consumption promotion campaign in which both residents and tourists can participate, and it will provide practical support to small business owners. We will actively promote this event to help vitalize the use of local currency and boost domestic demand.”
