The Hallym University RISE Project Group and the Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project Group (HUSS), in collaboration with Jeongseon County Office and Jeongseon Office of Education, held a Hackathon & Mentoring program from November 6 to 8, 2025, for three days and two nights at various locations in Jeongseon, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, including High1 Resort, to address regional issues in Jeongseon.
This program was organized under the theme “Gangwon RISE G-Lab@Jeongseon: Jeongseon, a Place to Live and a Place to Visit,” as a hackathon & mentoring initiative where local youth from Jeongseon and Hallym University students worked together to identify local problems and seek solutions.
Participants explored the culture, spaces, and resources of Jeongseon, analyzed local challenges, and proposed practical solutions. Through this process, Hallym University students strengthened their ability to solve region-based convergence problems, while Jeongseon youth gained experience exploring new possibilities for their community through collaboration with university student mentors.
Key local figures, including Lee Hajun, Superintendent of Jeongseon Office of Education, and Lee Yonggyu, Director of Jeongseon Urban Regeneration Support Center, participated in the program, delivered special lectures, and provided practical advice on utilizing local resources, thereby helping to derive more realistic solutions to regional issues.
Kim Minho, Head of the HUSS Project Group, stated, “The G-Lab@Jeongseon program is a leading example of collaboration between universities and local communities, serving as a platform for nurturing convergence talent that transforms local challenges into opportunities for innovation and mutual growth. Moving forward, the RISE Project Group and HUSS Project Group will continue to expand region-based extracurricular programs in cooperation.”
The Hallym University RISE Project Group and HUSS Project Group are operating a variety of curricular and extracurricular programs for nurturing ‘Local C-nergy’ convergence talent, with the goal of creating future value through regional value innovation and establishing a sustainable collaborative network.
