Geunwoo, Official Distributor for Schneider Electric and Delta in Korea
Promoting Commercialization of "Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC)" Technology
Strengthening Efforts to Capture the High-Efficiency Thermal Management Solution Market
Global materials company Dow will jointly develop a direct liquid cooling-based thermal management solution for data centers in collaboration with Geunwoo, a company specializing in power, electricity, and renewable energy.
Dow and Geunwoo announced on the 7th that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for collaboration on the development of a direct liquid cooling solution for data centers at Geunwoo headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul on the 6th. Through this agreement, the two companies plan to cooperate in various fields, including new data center pilot projects, research and development of liquid cooling solutions, and joint marketing.

Geunwoo is the official domestic distributor for Schneider Electric and Delta, global leaders in coolant distribution units (CDUs). In data center projects where these products are supplied, Geunwoo will expand its collaboration with Dow. Dow will supply Geunwoo with "Dowfrost LC heat transfer fluid." This product is made from over 99.8% high-purity propylene glycol, ensuring stable thermal management even in high-density server environments and offering excellent corrosion protection for copper components. It also reduces long-term maintenance burdens and enhances data center operational efficiency.
Recently, the data center industry has been rapidly shifting from air-based cooling methods to direct liquid cooling. Dowfrost LC has been supplied to major projects in North America and Asia within two years of its launch, and last month, Dow signed a product supply and joint marketing agreement with LG Electronics.
Changhyun Lee, President and CEO of Dow Korea, stated, "Dow is contributing to efficient thermal management and energy savings for data centers based on our materials science technology. Through our collaboration with Geunwoo, we will expand the application of direct liquid cooling solutions in the domestic data center market and provide a more stable and sustainable operating environment."
Jaejin Kim, CEO of Geunwoo, said, "Geunwoo plays a key role in data center construction by providing integrated electrical and mechanical services, including switchgear, transformers, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and cooling and air conditioning systems, which are essential in the era of artificial intelligence. Through this collaboration, we will stably supply Dowfrost LC products and introduce sustainable and high-quality cooling solutions to the market."
