On October 22, Changwon Special City successfully concluded the 29th Senior Citizens' Day event, expressing gratitude for the dedication and hard work of local seniors.
This event was organized separately by the Changwon and Jinhae branches of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, taking place at two locations: the Gyeongsangnam-do Transportation Culture Training Center and the Jinhae Culture Center Indoor Gymnasium.
The Jinhae branch event, held at the Jinhae Culture Center Indoor Gymnasium, was attended by Jang Geum-yong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, provincial and city council members, and over 600 seniors. The pre-ceremony atmosphere was enlivened by a recreational dance performance from Jinhae Senior College and a performance by the Cherry Blossom Saxophone Ensemble. The main ceremony included the reading of the Senior Citizens' Creed and the Charter of Respect for the Elderly, as well as an awards ceremony honoring exemplary seniors and outstanding senior centers, recognizing their contributions and expressing respect.
In his congratulatory remarks, Acting Mayor Jang stated, "The seniors are the very people who have driven Changwon's development, and I extend my deepest respect and gratitude to them." He added, "We will do our utmost to ensure that our seniors enjoy a healthy and happy later life through innovative, customized services such as welfare policies tailored to a super-aged society and the operation of smart senior centers."
Meanwhile, the Changwon branch event at the Gyeongsangnam-do Transportation Culture Training Center was attended by Son Tae-hwa, Chairman of the Changwon Special City Council, along with provincial and city council members and over 500 seniors.
Through this event, Changwon Special City conveyed its appreciation and respect for local seniors and created an opportunity for intergenerational harmony, ensuring that the wisdom and experience of seniors contribute to the development of the local community.
