On the 21st, Mayor Kim held a meeting with the head of the Jakarta branch of the World Korean Economic and Trade Association, actively working to establish a foundation for Gimpo-based companies to expand overseas into Indonesia.
The meeting was attended by Seo Junhyeong, head of the Jakarta branch of the World Korean Economic and Trade Association Indonesia, Im Jongsun, senior vice president, Park Dongmok, deputy secretary general, and other officials. Through this meeting, Mayor Kim expressed his commitment to establishing a cooperative network among local government, businesses, and local partners, and publicly promoted the technological and product capabilities of Gimpo companies.
Seo Junhyeong, head of the Indonesia branch, stated, "I hope a constructive relationship will be formed between Gimpo City and the Jakarta branch of the World Korean Economic and Trade Association. Indonesia is changing rapidly, so obtaining accurate market information is essential. The Jakarta branch will serve as a bridge between the Indonesian market and Gimpo City, assisting in investment verification. Since certification from the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) must be prepared from the early stages, it is difficult to achieve immediate results in overseas business, but if we continue to communicate, we can expect good outcomes."
Mayor Kim responded, "Indonesia is a very large market with a population of 300 million and a significant industrial workforce. As a single market, it is sizable and very attractive for Gimpo-based companies to enter. Gimpo City will actively support the expansion of Gimpo companies into Indonesia. I ask for your continued support."
Certification from Indonesia's BPOM (Food and Drug Authority) can take as little as six months or as long as two to three years, so companies must be prepared from the outset. The Indonesian Food and Drug Authority supervises the safety and quality of various products, including pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetics, and obtaining certification is mandatory for exporting to Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Mayor Kim's participation in the overseas market development delegation has sent a strong message of administrative support for companies' efforts to develop overseas markets, boosting the export ambitions and confidence of local businesses.
At a meeting with businesspeople held after the Indonesia market development delegation's buyer consultations, Mayor Kim listened attentively to their challenges and current situations regarding market expansion and actively communicated to help broaden the export base for Gimpo companies.

Businesspeople shared their thoughts: "Today, we discussed deals worth 80,000 dollars. I have no intention of leaving Gimpo. I hope for good results in Malaysia as well," "I've been in trade for 15 years, and this visit and consultation have been the most productive. My perspective on exports has changed," and "I felt rewarded by the great program opportunity provided by Gimpo City. I hope there will be more opportunities like this, leading to a virtuous cycle that benefits Gimpo."
Mayor Kim, who accompanied Gimpo's businesspeople, emphasized, "Gimpo is one team. You are not alone; you are working together with Gimpo City. Let's not limit ourselves to Gimpo-let's go beyond. I will do everything possible to support Gimpo companies' entry into Indonesia," adding, "I will make Gimpo a leading export city. I will take the lead in directly identifying market distribution and consumption trends, listening carefully to the difficulties faced by companies on the ground, and enhancing the effectiveness of export support policies."
The head of Gimpo City's Enterprise Support Division stated, "We are reviewing all possible ways to support companies from various angles. We will continue to look for ways to provide support not only with city funds but also with provincial or national funds. We will make every effort to be of help to companies."
Meanwhile, from October 19 to 25, Gimpo City is dispatching the "2025 Overseas Market Development Delegation" to Jakarta, Indonesia, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The city is determined to use this dispatch as an opportunity to expand both the breadth and depth of its buyer network, aiming to create a virtuous cycle for exports.
