Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation announced on the 22nd that they held the '2025 R&D Partner Tech Day' at Rolling Hills Hotel in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. The event was attended by R&D Division Head Yang Heewon (President), Moon Sungjun, Chairman of the Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation Partners Association, Lee Taekseong, Chairman of the Korea Automobile Industry Cooperative, Ahn Jeonggu, Chairman of the Automotive Industry Parts Promotion Foundation, and other representatives from partner companies.
The R&D Partner Tech Day is a mutual growth program where Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation reward partner companies that have achieved outstanding results in technology development and quality assurance, while seeking further cooperation through technical exchanges. The event, which began in 2006, is being held for the 20th time this year.
At the event, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation awarded six outstanding partner technologies. The Grand Prize went to the multifunctional console developed by Comos, which enhances the utilization of interior space. While conventional console tables could only move forward and backward, this technology allows the console table to rotate or tilt toward the driver’s seat or passenger seat.
The Excellence Awards were given to five technologies: ▲Shinyoung's lightweight, low-cost battery housing using dissimilar materials; ▲Seojin Industry's door dent prevention system; ▲Saein IND's battery busbar for electric and hybrid vehicles; ▲Donghee Industry's accelerator pedal that reduces fatigue during autonomous driving; and ▲Kyungshin's autonomous driving power distribution system designed for software-defined vehicles (SDVs) with redundancy technology for malfunction recovery.
During the event, Jane Joo, Director at Comos, and Bae Jaeseong, Executive Director at Kyungshin, among others, held sessions to share outstanding new technologies with the attendees.
Starting from today until November 30, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation will upload 43 new technology videos online so that employees of both companies and their partners can view them. Technologies that can be made public will also be accessible to external customers.
President Yang stated, "In the future automotive market, it is more important than ever to secure R&D competitiveness through mutual growth with partner companies," adding, "We plan to continue hosting events that facilitate close technical exchanges with partners as we prepare together for the future automotive market."
