Ministry of Economy and Finance, Statistics Korea Websites Down... Concerns Over Disrupted Economic Indicator Releases

Due to the fire at the National Information Resources Service (NIRS) in Daejeon, the websites of key government agencies, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance and Statistics Korea, which handle major economic indicators, have become inaccessible. The release of various economic indicators that the government regularly announces is also expected to be disrupted.

On the 27th, Statistics Korea announced, "The websites for Statistics Korea, the Korea Statistical Information Service (KOSIS), Microdata (mdss), and Statistical Geographic Information (sgis) are all currently unavailable."

Statistics Korea is scheduled to release the 'August Industrial Activity Trends' on the 30th and the 'September Consumer Price Trends' on October 2. While the agency maintains that, as of now, it can proceed with the related statistical releases according to the original schedule, it is possible that public online services may not operate normally.

As of this morning, access is also unavailable to the Ministry of Economy and Finance's 'Open Fiscal Data' portal, which provides fiscal information, as well as the Public Procurement Service's 'KONEPS,' the national integrated electronic procurement system.
