Building a Food Brand
Open to All Citizens
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province is holding the "Iksan Signature Food Name Contest" until August 25.
According to the city on August 13, the contest aims to enhance the domestic and international recognition of Iksan cuisine and to establish a distinctive food brand that reflects both regional characteristics and creativity.
The contest period runs until August 25. The theme is to create a brand and name suitable for a heartfelt meal consisting of rice, soup, and five side dishes (banchan) made using local agricultural products such as sweet potato stems and onions from the Iksan area. Any citizen of the Republic of Korea is eligible to participate.
To enter, participants can fill out an application form and submit it in person to the Department of Gastronomy and Sanitation, or apply online via the QR code posted in the notices section of the Iksan City website.
The city will select a total of six winners based on creativity, symbolism, clarity, and practicality: one grand prize winner (1 million KRW), two excellence award winners (500,000 KRW each), and three encouragement award winners (300,000 KRW each). In addition, 30 contest participants and 30 people who take part in the preference survey for the candidate entries will be randomly selected to receive a gift certificate worth 20,000 KRW.
The winning entries will be used in the development of the brand identity (BI) and design, and will be applied to various promotional materials such as plaques, tableware, banners, and online content.
Through this initiative, the city plans to widely promote the excellence of local agricultural products and strengthen its image as a gourmet city. Further details can be found on the Iksan City website and official social media channels.
A city official stated, "This contest will be a great opportunity for citizens to directly capture the flavors and sentiments of Iksan," adding, "We will use the selected name as the foundation to promote Iksan's unique food brand nationwide."
