Brawl Breaks Out Among Korean Tourists at Thai Restaurant... Incident Captured on Video

Police Arrest Four After Brawl, Release Them After Fine
Locals Criticize Thai Law as "Too Lenient on Foreigners"

An incident occurred at a restaurant in Thailand where a brawl broke out among Korean tourists, turning the scene into chaos.

As a result, the restaurant suffered significant property damage, and as footage of the incident spread online, there has been a surge of criticism in the local community regarding the fairness of law enforcement.

On July 12 (local time), local media outlets such as Pattaya Mail reported that at around 3:30 a.m. on July 11, a violent physical altercation broke out among Korean male tourists at an outdoor restaurant in the Naklua area of Pattaya.

The restaurant, which serves hot pot and grilled dishes, became the site of a commotion as several Korean men threw tableware and exchanged blows, causing other guests to scream and flee. In response to a report, Thai police were dispatched and arrested four Korean men involved in the fight at the scene.

According to the investigation, the men, who were part of the same group, were seated at one table and got into a verbal argument during their meal, which escalated into a physical fight as emotions ran high.

Due to the brawl, dishes, glassware, and other utensils in the restaurant were damaged, resulting in approximately 100,000 baht (about 425,000 won) in losses for the restaurant. The restaurant demanded compensation from the tourists involved in the disturbance, and it is reported that they reached a settlement and paid the full amount.

The police charged the men with violence in a public place, imposed fines, and then released them. However, as footage of the incident filmed by another customer spread online, criticism has erupted locally.

In particular, local internet users argue that Thai law is excessively lenient toward foreigners. Comments such as "If they were Thai, they would have ended up in the hospital or jail" and "Thailand is the only place where you can smash up a restaurant and just pay a fine if you have money" have been posted, with growing voices questioning the fairness of law enforcement between foreigners and locals.
