The Chungnam Provincial Police Agency announced that on Memorial Day, June 6, they apprehended two men who were riding motorcycles without license plates, while unlicensed and uninsured, as part of a crackdown on reckless driving.
According to the police, the two men were caught at around 2:50 a.m. that day, riding unregistered motorcycles without license plates on a road near Tangjeong Station in Tangjeong-eup, Asan-si. Both individuals were found to be operating the motorcycles without a valid license and without insurance.
The crackdown was conducted by the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency and the Chungnam Autonomous Police Committee, deploying a total of 178 personnel and 63 pieces of equipment, including traffic and mobile units, undercover patrol teams, and police motorcycles. A total of 86 violations were detected.
The violations included: 67 cases of notification penalties such as signal violations, 5 cases of drunk driving, 4 cases of driving without a license, 3 cases of driving without license plates, 2 cases of driving without insurance, 2 wanted persons, and 3 cases of exceeding noise standards.
The police stated, "Reckless driving tends to be concentrated on national holidays or commemorative days, so we are strengthening both intelligence gathering and on-site crackdowns," adding, "We will also respond strongly on Liberation Day."
