The welfare center relocated its desk to the entrance in order to answer the question, "Shouldn't social workers become people who design solutions in advance to prevent problems from occurring?"
The center has expanded its activities to not only provide a variety of welfare services to visitors, but also to listen to their stories and offer necessary information. Since most of the visitors are seniors, the response has been enthusiastic.
One senior citizen (age 79) who used the Reception Civil Service Office said, "For elderly people like us, it's difficult and burdensome to open the door to the center and ask questions, but with staff right here at the entrance, it's much easier and more comfortable to ask."
Director Kim Jongwon said, "An inconvenience becomes a real problem not when it happens once, but when it is repeated. When social workers transform from being helpers to being designers of life-cycle-based welfare, the lives of users become happier," adding, "We decided to greet visitors at the entrance to resolve the discomfort and awkwardness of having to open the door and come inside."
