Wando Records Highest Turnout in Jeollanam-do at 28.88%
Strong Enthusiasm Among Soldiers, Office Workers, and Seniors

From early in the morning, voters formed long lines at the early voting stations, reflecting the intense enthusiasm for the upcoming 6·3 presidential election.


On the 29th, the early voting station set up at the Nongomin Culture and Sports Center in Wando-eup, Wando County, Jeollanam-do, was bustling with citizens gathering even before voting began. As voting started at 6 a.m., the site was busy with voters holding their identification cards and heading to cast their ballots.

A voter in their 30s, identified as Mr. A, who visited the polling station early to vote before going to work, said, "It's difficult to leave the office once I arrive, so I waited for 30 minutes beforehand," adding, "I've never seen so many people gathered here before. I think this shows just how much interest there is in this presidential election."


A soldier who came to vote while on leave also said, "Even though I am serving in the military, I believe voting is a right of the people, so I made sure to participate," and added, "Since this presidential election is crucial in determining the country's future, I wanted to cast my precious vote."


A voter in their 50s, identified as Mr. B, who was worried about not being able to vote after losing their resident registration card, said, "I received a certificate of application for a new resident registration card from the town office and was able to vote," emphasizing, "This election is closely related to my own life, so I sincerely hope that a well-prepared president will be elected." Another voter in their 60s said, "I hope the next president will be someone who can restore stability to the country and revive the economy."


According to the National Election Commission, as of 2 p.m. on this day, the nationwide early voting turnout stood at 12.34%. Among these, Jeollanam-do recorded the highest turnout at 23.48%, with Wando leading the province at 28.88%. Jindo (27.73%), Haenam (27.37%), Mokpo (23.09%), and Gwangju (20.64%) followed.


Early voting will take place nationwide from this day until the 30th at 3,568 polling stations, operating from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Voters can cast their ballots at any early voting station nationwide without prior registration, but must bring valid identification.
