Han Sowon Publishes Three First-Author Papers in Top SCIE Journals
Research Achieves Up to 35.7% Energy Reduction Using Transparent Photovoltaic Panels and Light Shelves
Collaborative Studies with Professors Lee Haengwoo and Seo Janghoo Recognized for Academic Excellence
Han Sowon, a student currently enrolled in the integrated bachelor's and master's program in Space Design at Sangmyung University, has published three papers as the first author in SCIE-indexed international journals on building energy reduction.
All of these papers were published in top-tier SCIE journals with an impact factor (IF) of 6 or higher.
The paper published in Energy, titled "Analysis of Energy Reduction and Daylighting Performance of Light Shelves According to the Application Method of Transparent Photovoltaic Panels," demonstrated that combining transparent photovoltaic panels and light shelves at the top of windows achieved up to 35.7% energy reduction compared to conventional light shelves. This research was conducted jointly with Professor Lee Haengwoo of Sangmyung University.
The paper published in Solar Energy, titled "Verification of the Effectiveness of Transparent Photovoltaics According to Transmittance," analyzed the power generation and indoor illuminance performance of TPVs under various transmittance conditions. The optimal transmittance was found to be 60%, and it was more efficient than monocrystalline solar cells. This research was conducted in collaboration with Professor Seo Janghoo of Kookmin University and Professor Lee Haengwoo of Sangmyung University.
The paper published in Building Simulation, titled "Daylighting Performance Improvement Effect Using Internal Light Shelves," analyzed, based on simulations, the differences in daylighting performance of internal light shelves according to ceiling height. Professor Lee Haengwoo of Sangmyung University and Dr. Lee Mingu of the Korea Electronics Technology Institute participated in this research.
Han Sowon stated, "These studies were an academic challenge and a meaningful opportunity to push beyond my limits," adding, "I would like to express my deep gratitude to Professor Lee Haengwoo for his meticulous guidance throughout the research process."
