The event was attended by Kim Beomseok, Head of Ulsan Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Jeong Jongdeuk, Head of Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, as well as key S-OIL executives including Hong Seungpyo, Chief Safety Officer (CSO), and Kim Bochan, Ulsan Complex Head. Over 300 people, including representatives and staff from partner companies participating in this year's coexistence cooperation project, gathered in one place.
S-OIL has been operating various coexistence programs for improving the safety capabilities of partner companies in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency over the past several years. This year, a wider range of partner companies will participate, and a variety of differentiated safety and health programs will be fully implemented.
In particular, this year, S-OIL will newly promote effective tasks tailored to the field conditions and characteristics of partner companies, focusing on spreading autonomous prevention systems. These include sharing risk assessment techniques, obtaining KOSHA-MS certification, preventing risks in confined space work, improving work environments for musculoskeletal disorders, and providing safety and health education and cultural experiences.
At the event, Hong Seungpyo, S-OIL Chief Safety Officer (CSO), stated, "The coexistence cooperation project is more than a simple support program; it is an important opportunity for partner companies to grow as the main agents of safety by recognizing and eliminating risks themselves," adding, "We hope that the principal company and partner companies will share the same level of safety culture and sense of responsibility as one community."
Kim Bochan, S-OIL Ulsan Complex Head, also said in his welcoming speech, "As large-scale projects such as the Shaheen Project are underway, the roles and responsibilities of partner companies are more important than ever. Safety is not a choice but a necessity, and a zero-accident workplace can be realized only when everyone works together with one heart."
During the kick-off ceremony, there was a reading of a declaration expressing the commitment of major partner companies participating in the coexistence cooperation project, followed by a briefing from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency on the project's operational direction. The participants reaffirmed their commitment to creating a safe workplace.
Going forward, S-OIL plans to strengthen its role as a partner with its partner companies to prevent major accidents and establish a safety culture based on mutual trust. The company will continue to fulfill its responsibilities as a leading company in safety and health through close cooperation with the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.
