A Month of Diverse Programs
Wando County in Jeonnam announced on the 19th that the '2025 Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival' will be held for a month from April 5 to May 4.
Cheongsando is the first place in Asia to be designated as a Slow City, and last year it was selected as a 'Star of Korean Tourism' after receiving the main award in the 'Eco-friendly Tourism Content that Brightened Korean Tourism' category hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization.

This year's festival, under the theme "Let's Play Day and Night in Cheongsando!", will feature a variety of programs in three categories: ▲Let's Walk ▲Let's Play Day and Night ▲Let's Record. The opening ceremony will take place on the 5th of next month, starting with the "Butterfly, Let's Go to Cheongsan" event where butterflies are released into a field of canola flowers, followed by performances of traditional farmers' music and pansori.
The "Let's Walk" program includes "I Will Walk in Cheongsando," where participants who collect four or more stamps while walking four out of the eleven Cheongsando Slow Walking Trails will receive a gift, and "Slow Trail Plogging," where collecting trash on Cheongsando can be exchanged for an eco-friendly kit.
In "Let's Play Day and Night," programs include "Gudeuljang Rice Mill," where rice harvested from Cheongsando's Gudeuljang rice paddies is used to make and share rice cakes; "Cheongsando Wandering Troupe," a performance set against the island's beautiful scenery; "Cheongsando Visible Radio," where tourists and local DJs participate together; and "Beombawi Gi Bracelet Making," among others.
The "Let's Record" program features a moving photo zone, "I'll Give You a Gift, Give Me Your Receipt," which offers souvenirs to those who verify receipts of over 50,000 KRW spent on accommodation or local specialties in Cheongsando, an "SNS Certification Event" where souvenirs are given for hashtag posts, and the "Cheongsando Snail Postcard," which will be delivered a year later. Night programs include "Cheongsando with a View of the Stars," where visitors can take memorable photos at a Milky Way viewing spot, and the "Cheongsando Moonlight Night Walk."
Additionally, there will be the "Cheongsando Photo Studio" exhibition featuring photos of the island taken by residents, and a picnic set rental service for leisurely sightseeing. In particular, residents will directly operate the programs and provide visitor guidance through the "Cheongsando Residents Tourism Office." An official from the county stated, "To mark the 2025 Year of Visiting Wando, we have prepared a variety of benefits such as abundant programs, half-price discounts on island ferries, and Wando Healing Pay," adding, "We hope you enjoy a healing time day and night in Cheongsando, where the mountains, sea, and sky are all blue."
