From this year, the project has been expanded and reorganized to ensure that all students can benefit evenly, moving away from the previous method of supporting only some schools.

Unlike the previous operation method, which supported programs only in some elementary, middle, and high schools based on individual school applications, this year, in line with Goyang Special City’s educational policy direction, the ‘Onmaeul Happy School’ will be operated for all 6th-grade elementary students, and the ‘Creating a Bright School Culture’ project will be promoted for all 1st-grade middle school students, whose sensitivity is heightened.

Through this, the city plans to provide equal educational opportunities for all students and create an educational ecosystem where schools and the local community cooperate.

In January, the city recruited organizations to participate in the Onmaeul Happy School and Creating a Bright School Culture projects, with over 50 organizations participating. After document screening and consulting, a total of 103 programs were finally selected.

Each school in Goyang applied for desired programs through the Goyang City Education Integrated Platform ‘One-Click System.’ Accordingly, from mid-March this year, schools and participating organizations will collaborate to begin full-scale educational activities.

The programs are composed of various fields such as creative experiential activities, character education, music activities, and environmental education, allowing students to gain practical learning experiences linked to the local community.

The Onmaeul Happy School offers 63 experiential programs for 6th-grade elementary students, including △Career Sensitivity Project △Making My Own Pottery △Artificial Intelligence (AI) Robot Coding △Zero Waste Junior Activist activities, providing students with broad learning opportunities.

The Creating a Bright School Culture project for 1st-grade middle school students focuses on forming a positive school culture and building healthy relationships based on care and respect among students through 40 programs such as △Relationship Circles △Newness Created Through Communication △Peer Group Emotional Coaching Programs.

Meanwhile, the city operates a ‘Cooperative Village Activist’ talent pool to link local human resources with the school curriculum. This year, 19 new cooperative village activists were recruited, bringing the total talent pool to over 430 people.

Cooperative village activists work in various fields such as arts and sports, coding, reading and literature, and basic learning, supporting practical education through close cooperation with school classes. Each school can utilize the activist talent pool through the Goyang City Education Integrated Platform ‘One-Click System’ to provide richer educational resources for school activities.

Goyang Special City plans to strengthen cooperation between schools and the local community through this project and provide diverse learning opportunities to students, thereby establishing a future-oriented educational model. Additionally, it aims to sustainably develop the educational ecosystem and offer students rich educational experiences combining school curricula and local community resources.

A Goyang Special City official stated, “Through the 103 programs discovered by this project reorganization, students will gain various learning opportunities,” adding, “Goyang Special City will continue educational innovation based on cooperation with the local community.”
