Kim Taekyun, Chairperson of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Council, participated in the "Population Issue Awareness Improvement Relay Campaign" on the 18th to help spread social consensus on overcoming population challenges.
This campaign, jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare, has been underway since October last year to raise public awareness about population decline and aging issues.
The Jeollanam-do Provincial Council is currently working in close cooperation with Jeollanam-do to develop effective policies and overcome the serious crisis of regional extinction caused by population decline and aging.
Kim Taekyun stated, "In Jeollanam-do, as many as 16 out of 22 cities and counties have been designated as areas with declining populations, making the crisis of regional extinction a reality," and added, "We must all make continuous efforts to overcome low birth rates, prepare for aging, and attract young people."
He continued, "With the mindset that our efforts will drive change in both Korea and Jeollanam-do, the provincial council will continue to make even greater efforts to address population issues."
Meanwhile, Kim Taekyun nominated Jo Sangrae, Mayor of Gokseong, and Choi Hakbeom, Chairperson of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council, as the next participants in the campaign and requested their involvement.
