The Korea Rail Network Authority is collaborating with Chungcheongbuk-do and Cheongju City to promote the comprehensive development of the Osong Station area.
Osong Station is a high-speed rail junction and a key railway hub, with a steadily increasing number of passengers. However, there have been consistent calls for improvements due to insufficient infrastructure, such as a lack of parking facilities and inadequate connectivity with nearby transportation networks.
Accordingly, on the 5th, the Rail Network Authority signed a memorandum of understanding with Chungbuk Province and Cheongju City to promote comprehensive development centered around Osong Station.

Under the agreement, the three organizations will join forces to ▲ jointly promote a comprehensive development plan centered on Osong Station ▲ strengthen cooperation through the formation of a working-level consultative body ▲ conduct research and exchange information for the development of Osong Station.
Before proceeding with the comprehensive development, a "joint study for establishing a master plan centered on Osong Station" will also be conducted. Additionally, the three organizations plan to mutually cooperate on institutional support, such as revitalizing private investment attraction and preparing a complex development model utilizing railway infrastructure.
Lee Seong-hae, Chairman of the Rail Network Authority, stated, “We will actively cooperate with related organizations to ensure that Osong Station can be reborn as a more convenient and future-oriented railway hub through the expansion of railway infrastructure.” He added, “Based on the agreement, the Rail Network Authority will systematically develop the national land around Osong Station and seek ways to grow harmoniously with the local community.”
