Jeonju City Implements 'Farmland Improvement Reporting System' Starting This Year

Mandatory Reporting Required for Farmland Embankment or Excavation

Jeonju Agricultural Technology Center (Director: Kang Sekwon) announced on the 21st that, due to the revision of the Farmland Act, the Farmland Improvement Notification System will be implemented starting this year.

Accordingly, anyone planning to perform embankment or excavation for the purpose of improving farmland must report in advance to the farmland department.

In particular, when carrying out embankment, soil suitable for crop cultivation must be used, and a soil component analysis report issued by a professional institution must be submitted.

If the improvement standards are violated or farmland is improved without prior notification, administrative actions such as restoration to the original state may be imposed, and failure to comply will result in prosecution.

However, the following cases are exempt from notification: ▲ cases requiring development activity permits ▲ cases where the project area is less than 1,000㎡ or the activity is minor (less than 50cm) ▲ projects conducted by the state or local governments ▲ emergency measures for disaster recovery, etc.

An official from the Jeonju Agricultural Policy Division stated, “As the Farmland Improvement Notification System is being implemented due to the revision of related laws, we urge farms in the Jeonju area to make sure to report in advance to the farmland department to avoid any illegal activities.”
