Korea BTS (CEO Jang Jung-eon) announced on the 31st that it will launch a block modular lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery system for electric forklifts that is easy to maintain and assemble.
CEO Jang Jung-eon of the company stated, "We are currently testing the world's first developed block modular LFP battery to be installed in two Clark electric forklift models, one Hyundai electric forklift model, and one Japanese Toyota forklift model," adding, "We plan to expand the product lineup to 15 models within this year."
Korea BTS's LFP battery will replace the lead-acid batteries mainly installed in existing electric vehicles. Lead-acid batteries require regular distilled water replenishment and have performance degradation depending on temperature. Lithium-ion batteries have lower maintenance costs and superior energy efficiency compared to traditional lead-acid batteries. Recently, as lithium-ion battery prices have dropped, cases of installing competitively priced LFP lithium-ion batteries instead of lead-acid batteries in electric forklifts have increased.
Additionally, LFP batteries imported and sold from China have difficulties in after-sales service, and since forklift batteries are manufactured as an integrated weight balance system (adding scrap metal to the LFP battery system to maintain the forklift's weight), disposal after use has also been problematic.
CEO Jang explained, "Korea BTS's block modular LFP forklift battery system is optimized for forklift battery systems by manufacturing the case with an outer and inner shell structure and producing the weight balance as a block module." He also emphasized that it is easier to maintain compared to Chinese products and has price competitiveness due to reduced logistics costs.
CEO Jang said, "The assembled LFP forklift solution applying block modules like IKEA furniture systems is the world's first product and can be exported overseas as well as domestically," adding, "We plan to actively conduct global marketing."
Korea BTS is a specialized company in LFP battery systems, developing industrial LFP battery systems for camping cars, cleaning vehicles, forklifts, as well as battery systems for UPS and ESS, supplying them to public institutions and companies.
