Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, announced on the 22nd that it has been finally selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' '2025 Youth Rural Settlement Creation Project' and secured a project budget of 10 billion KRW.
The Youth Rural Settlement Creation Project, planned to be developed in the Beolji-ri area of Dasan-myeon, Goryeong-gun, aims to alleviate housing burdens for young people returning to or moving into rural areas, promote the influx of youth, and enhance the sustainability of rural communities by creating a complex residential complex to respond to the population decline crisis. It was selected after document and on-site evaluations.
By establishing linked housing complexes, community centers, and care facilities, synergy effects from related projects are expected.
Additionally, Goryeong-gun plans to provide various policies for young people and young farmers by connecting with the Job and Youth Startup Support Center, offering job and startup opportunities to young returnees and migrants, supporting future agricultural policies such as smart farming, and attracting outstanding youth to settle in the region by providing quality settlements.
Lee Nam-cheol, the mayor of Goryeong-gun, stated, “The settlement creation project in Goryeong-gun will not only create residential spaces but also spaces for childcare sharing and community activities, actively responding to current challenges such as low birth rates and the population extinction crisis.” He added, “We will build infrastructure for youth housing stability along with various rural return and youth policies of Goryeong-gun to create a youth-friendly city for the talented future generation.”
