The Democratic Party regards the Local Currency Act, which Representative Lee is focusing on, as the top priority bill. The Local Currency Act aims to mandate financial support necessary for the operation of local love gift certificates.
Heo Young, head of the Economic Recovery Team, said, "Local currency is a special measure to prevent outflow outside the region, increase domestic demand, and protect small businesses and traditional market merchants," adding, "It is the best policy to alleviate local extinction and promote balanced regional development."
The Recovery Team also called for the enactment of a supplementary budget. Heo said, "Considering various economic indicators at the last meeting, we urged the government to implement a phased supplementary budget starting with a base of 20 trillion won," adding, "Since all economic actors, including the Bank of Korea, are demanding this, we believe the government is now facing a situation where it can no longer delay this matter."
He continued, "Soon, as decisions from the courts and the Constitutional Court regarding the internal conflict situation will be made one after another amid economic uncertainty, we expect the government to respond urgently by reducing economic uncertainty further through the supplementary budget."
