Official Designation of Bomunsan Area as a Natural Recreation Forest by the Korea Forest Service
Construction to Begin in March, Completion by 2028... Forest Experience Facilities for All Life Stages
The 'Bomunsan Area Forest Welfare and Recreation Complex Development Project' in Daejeon will be officially launched following its designation and announcement by the Korea Forest Service.
According to Daejeon City on the 17th, the Korea Forest Service, after expert reviews by the National Forest Committee and the Central Mountain Management Committee, officially designated the Bomunsan Area as a natural recreation forest on this day.
The city established a plan to promote the development of the Bomunsan Area Forest Welfare and Recreation Complex in 2022, and applied for the designation of a natural recreation forest to the Korea Forest Service in November last year.
The Bomunsan Area Recreation Complex Project will use 80 billion won from the city budget to develop forest recreation facilities across 2.96 million square meters, stretching from Mokdal-dong to Guwan-dong in Jung-gu, where people can experience forests throughout their life cycle.
Facilities such as Prenatal Forest, Birth Forest, Infant Forest, Forest Experience Center, Forest Bathing Area, Companion Forest, and Forest Management Forest will be created to provide various forest experience programs linked to ecological resources, offering a space where visitors can learn about forest recreation culture and the value of forest resources.
The city plans to complete administrative procedures and start the first phase of construction in March, aiming for completion in 2026. Additional administrative procedures will be carried out to complete the Bomunsan Pureunae Natural Recreation Forest by 2028.
Along with the development of the recreation forest, road expansion work will be carried out in the Mokdal-dong area to improve convenience for recreation forest visitors and enhance transportation welfare for nearby residents.
Park Youngcheol, Director of Daejeon City's Greenery and Agricultural Life Bureau, said, "We will do our best to make Bomunsan Pureunae Natural Recreation Forest a top-class recreation facility where citizens can enjoy comfortable forest recreation and improve their quality of life."
