On the afternoon of the 15th, Park Ji-won, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, appeared on MBC News Outside and spoke about the arrest of President Yoon Seok-yeol on charges of rebellion earlier that morning. He said, "Even the final moments should be dignified, but I had nothing to say. So I wrote 'Shut up' on my social media account." He added, "The Joint Investigation Headquarters and the police executed the warrant well and entered. As our citizens, they did excellently."
President Yoon is currently under investigation at the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office (HCIO) located in the Government Complex Gwacheon in Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi Province. Park said, "President Yoon is exercising his right to remain silent at the HCIO and refusing to cooperate with the investigation. He is already like a rat trapped in a jar of poison. A rat in a jar of poison can never get out."
Regarding the statement made by Yoon's lawyer, Seok Dong-hyun, who told reporters that they would "fight until the end," Park claimed, "Who would listen to Yoon Seok-yeol? In our country, the only people who listen to them are lawmakers Yoon Sang-hyun, Kwon Seong-dong, Kwon Young-se, and Na Kyung-won." He continued, "The People Power Party and the President's power party must split, and the decadent conservatives must separate for there to be a path for healthy conservatives. The country will develop only when healthy and rational conservatives and progressives move forward together."
Park also predicted, "Our people can overcome everything when they are excited. Due to Yoon Seok-yeol's arrest, international trust will increase, stock prices will rise, and allied countries such as the United States will provide economic support."
