Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) announced on the 14th that it is recruiting the '3rd Youth Policy Advisory Group,' which serves as a bridge between the city and youth, until March 3rd.
Hanam City has a youth population of about 87,000, accounting for approximately 27% of the total citizens. Since the establishment of the Youth Employment Division in 2023, the city has been promoting differentiated policies in various fields such as youth employment, housing, education, welfare and culture, and participation and rights.
Among them, the 'Youth Honorary Mayor and Youth Policy Advisory Group' was introduced nationwide for the first time in 2023 and plays a role in reflecting the voices of youth in city administration and policies through active youth participation in city governance.
Also known as 'Youth Mate,' the Youth Honorary Mayor and Youth Policy Advisory Group serve a one-year term (with the possibility of two reappointments) and have been involved in listening to and monitoring city issues, collecting youth opinions, and promoting policies.
After the launch of the 1st Youth Mate, the 2nd Advisory Group was operated by reappointing existing members. This year, to hear more diverse youth voices, the group will be expanded by recruiting members by region to form the 3rd group.
The current recruitment is for three policy advisors. Any youth aged 19 to 39 who reside or work in Hanam City can apply. Interested youth can submit their application forms via email by February 3rd.
Those selected for the 3rd Youth Policy Advisory Group will serve until January 31, 2026, engaging in roles such as discovering youth-related agendas through regular meetings and networking among local youth.
Especially this year, the scope of activities has expanded to include △support for youth job-seeking activities (visiting local companies) △social contribution activities for community service △youth policy proposals and networking, among various activities. Selected participants will also receive a modest activity allowance and awards for outstanding performers.
Mayor Lee Hyun-jae of Hanam City said, “The Hanam City Youth Policy Advisory Group is an important channel through which youth participate in city governance, propose necessary policies, and directly realize ‘Hanam as a great place for youth to live.’ We look forward to the enthusiastic participation of many young people who will create greater change together.”
